Did you know that there are nine teaspoons of sugar in a can of Coke and the equivalent of four teaspoons of natural sugar in one banana? Wiggins Class certainly didn’t until Alex, the Community Champion from Tesco, came to see us today. The children had to guess how many spoons of sugar were in lots of different foods and drinks and then place sugar cubes on their pictures. We had quite a few shocks and surprises! There are 24 spoons of sugar in a big bag of Haribo! We also made some delicious healthy fruit salads with natural yogurt which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Tesco have very kindly agreed to help towards the cost of our cookery lessons too, something which we are so grateful for. They will supply us with specific ingredients that we will need and fill our kitchen cupboard with the essentials. We are looking forward to creating some tasty healthy dishes.
